The NIH Science Education Partnership Award (SEPA) program supports educational activities that increase biomedical research knowledge among pre-college students, from pre-kindergarten through grade 12, and promote interest in STEM careers. The program funds projects providing skill-development courses, hands-on research experiences, mentoring, curriculum innovation, and outreach efforts.

SEPA projects may be offered in traditional classrooms or informal science education settings. The program especially encourages applications that build quantitative and computational skills and welcomes submissions from resource-limited institutions.

Eligibility requires that an individual may serve as principal investigator on only one active SEPA award at a time. Current SEPA leaders can apply for a new project if it is sufficiently distinct and the time overlap between projects is no more than six months. Renewal applications are not accepted under this opportunity.
