According to the White House, following what it describes as "dangerous open-border policies" under Democrats, President Trump secured the border with a reported record low in illegal crossings, fulfilling his promise to make communities safer and reduce crime. Despite these claims, congressional Democrats have blocked funding for personnel involved in border security operations.

The Secure America Act is introduced as legislation to fully fund U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) through the end of President Trump's term. The Act aims to provide resources necessary to secure the border, combat human trafficking, stop illegal drugs, dismantle criminal cartels, and enforce immigration laws.

After the Act passed the Senate, every Senate Democrat voted against it. The Democrat-controlled House of Representatives is identified as the remaining obstacle to the Act’s enactment, with expectations of continued opposition.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin emphasized the need for the Act's passage to enable ICE and CBP agents to carry out their missions effectively, noting that funding has been withheld for over 100 days, which he called a "radical attempt" to protect "violent criminal illegal aliens" and counter President Trump's border security efforts.

Border Czar Tom Homan stated that reconciling the Act would allocate about $70 billion to sustain operations through the end of the Trump administration. He added that additional funding would enhance enforcement efforts and support operational contractors.

Republican governors and state attorneys general associations have expressed support for the Act. The Republican Governors Association urges swift passage to ensure sustained funding for CBP and ICE, while the Republican Attorneys General Association emphasizes the importance of strong federal partnerships for community safety, stating that withholding resources undermines federal responsibilities and public safety.

Proponents position the Secure America Act as a critical measure to maintain border security and enforce immigration laws during the current administration.
