The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Energy Dominance Financing (EDF) has closed a loan of up to $3.26 billion to American Electric Power (AEP) Texas. The loan aims to lower electricity costs and strengthen, as well as modernize, the Texas electric grid, according to a DOE press release dated July 8, 2026.
The DOE Loan Programs Office provides loans and loan guarantees to support energy infrastructure projects, focusing on improving grid reliability and energy affordability across regions.
