Michael-Andre Matthew Edwards won gold in the triple jump at the World Athletics U20 Championships Oregon 26 with a personal best of 17.08m on his final attempt, becoming the first U20 athlete in 2024 to surpass 17 metres. USA's Miles Nesmith took silver after a series of personal bests, including a 16.79m jump, while China's Wang Zhuoyue finished third despite discomfort during the competition. Additional personal bests were set by Italy’s Francesco Efeosa Crotti, China’s Cai Ziqi, and Bulgaria’s Zinga Rafael Barbosa Firmino.

In the javelin, South Africa’s Jan-Hendrik Heymans dominated, setting a personal best of 80.50m on his final attempt, improving by over three metres from his previous best. Heymans consistently threw over 76 metres during the event and recorded the fourth-farthest winning mark in World U20 Championships history. India’s Ashish Yadav earned silver with a 74.09m throw, and Dominica’s Addison James set a national record of 73.89m to win bronze, becoming Dominica’s first World U20 medallist.

China’s Chen Jiawei, who led qualification with a world U20-leading throw of 80.39m, secured gold in the hammer throw with a final effort of 79.16m. Chen consistently surpassed 76 metres, leading from the outset with an opening throw of 78.47m and improving in the final round.
