According to a White House statement, under President Trump and Republican leadership, South Carolina has seen significant economic and safety improvements. Notable tax reforms include ending federal income tax on qualifying overtime pay for one in four South Carolina workers and introducing a senior deduction benefiting about one million seniors.
The Working Families Tax Cuts reportedly led to average tax refunds of $3,476 for South Carolina taxpayers, protected 86,000 jobs, preserved $15 billion in state GDP, and secured $8 billion in workers’ wages. Additionally, South Carolina received over $200 million through the Rural Health Transformation Program.
Cited crime statistics show a sharp decline in violent crime statewide, including an 18% drop in homicides in 2025 and a further 21% decrease in the first half of 2026 compared to the previous year. Other violent crimes—aggravated assaults, rapes, and robberies—also declined. Charleston reportedly experienced a 36% reduction in overall crime in 2025.
