Clover Hill Dairy of Mechanicsville, Maryland, recalled its requesón/soft ricotta cheese products on June 3, 2026. These cheeses were sold at the company’s retail market, farmers markets, and through distributors in New York and Virginia. Some varieties include jalapeño and other flavors. The products may also appear relabeled under different brand names, but the manufacturer permit number "24-128" identifies them as Clover Hill Dairy products.

According to the CDC, Listeria monocytogenes poses significant risks to pregnant women, people aged 65 or older, and those with weakened immune systems. Infection can cause pregnancy loss, premature birth, or life-threatening infections in newborns. Pregnant women may experience symptoms such as fever, muscle aches, and fatigue, while other affected individuals might have headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions, along with fever and muscle aches.

The CDC advises high-risk groups to avoid eating the recalled cheese products. Consumers should discard or return the cheese and thoroughly clean refrigerators, containers, and surfaces that may have come into contact with the product, as Listeria can survive refrigeration and spread to other foods and surfaces. Anyone experiencing symptoms after consuming these cheeses should contact a healthcare provider immediately.

The CDC also recommends that businesses stop selling or serving the recalled cheese and wash and sanitize all items and surfaces that may have contacted the products, following FDA guidelines for safe handling and cleaning.
