Kenny Bednarek won the men's 100m final at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship Budapest 26, securing his first major individual title. The US sprinter kept pace with world champion Oblique Seville in the second half before pulling ahead to finish with a season-best 9.85 seconds in a headwind of -0.6 m/s.
Oblique Seville took second with a time of 9.90 seconds, while Ronnie Baker placed third in 9.93 seconds. Nigeria's Kayinsola Ajayi narrowly missed the podium, also finishing in 9.93 seconds.
Bednarek, previously a four-time global silver medallist, achieved his first major individual title with this win.
