ElliReese Niday, a 14-year-old home-schooled diver from Moultrie, Georgia, is gaining recognition in American diving after a series of achievements at a young age. She switched from gymnastics to diving at nine to reduce injury risk when performing challenging skills. Since then, she has excelled, sweeping all three gold medals at the US Junior National Championships in her first age group and repeating the feat the following year on multiple boards.
At just 13, Niday won the women's 10m platform at the 2025 US Senior National Championships, becoming one of the youngest divers in US history to earn a senior national title. Although her age prevented her from competing at the World Championships, she continued to dominate nationally in her age group.
In 2026, Niday competed at the World Aquatics Diving World Cup, finishing fifth in Montreal and fourth in the Super Final in Beijing, defeating established international competitors and confirming her emergence on the world stage.
Despite these successes, Niday is currently sidelined due to a broken vertebra, keeping her out of the 2026 Junior World Championships this summer. Her mother, Lauryn Niday, was also a successful diver who won national titles and competed collegiately, furthering the family's connection to the sport.
