The inaugural WP4 World Championships, introducing a faster and more accessible water polo format with fewer players and a smaller playing area, took place in Dubrovnik from August 31 to September 6, 2026. The event featured 84 men's and women's matches, producing over 1,800 goals—an average of more than 21 goals per game. The Old Harbour in Dubrovnik provided a fitting backdrop, combining Croatia's water polo tradition with the new format's identity.
In the women's competition, the United States secured the gold medal by defeating Spain 3-0 in the final.
