As of June 13, 2026, three infants from California, Pennsylvania, and Washington, aged between two and five months, have been diagnosed with infant botulism linked to Nara Organics Whole Milk Organic Infant Formula, according to the CDC. All three infants were hospitalized and treated with BabyBIG®, the FDA-approved treatment for infant botulism. No deaths have been reported in this outbreak.
Nara Organics has recalled all lots and sizes of its Whole Milk Organic Infant Formula. These products were distributed online and at major retailers nationwide.
The CDC urges parents and caregivers to stop using any Nara Organics Whole Milk Organic Infant Formula immediately. Unopened cans should be discarded or returned; opened cans should be photographed with lot numbers and use-by dates noted. Caregivers are encouraged to retain opened formula for possible testing if symptoms of infant botulism appear.
Symptoms of infant botulism can take weeks to emerge and include poor feeding, loss of head control, trouble swallowing, and decreased facial expression. Infants who consumed the formula should be monitored for symptoms for one month after their last feeding. If no symptoms develop, any remaining formula should be safely discarded. Items or surfaces that contacted the formula should be cleaned thoroughly with hot, soapy water or in a dishwasher.
Healthcare providers are advised to diagnose and treat infant botulism based on clinical symptoms, without waiting for laboratory confirmation. The CDC recommends reporting complaints or adverse events related to the formula through the FDA's Safety Reporting Portal.
Testing of both opened and unopened samples of Nara Organics formula is ongoing, with results expected in the coming weeks.
