The UNESCO Dar es Salaam Office, supported by the Republic of Korea and in collaboration with Tanzania’s Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Prime Minister’s Office, organized a training workshop for 52 teachers specializing in ICT, Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry. The teachers represented 13 schools across Dodoma City Council, Chamwino, and Kongwa Districts.
The workshop, held from May 19 to 22, 2026, at the Edema Conference Centre Limited in Dodoma, aimed to strengthen ICT integration in teaching and learning. It implemented the 2025 ICT Competency Standards for Teachers in Tanzania (ICT-CSTT) through 15 ICT modules in the Tanzania Institute of Education Teachers’ Continuous Professional Development Learning Management System.
Dr. Lyabwene Mtahabwa, Commissioner for Education at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, officiated the training and stressed the significance of the modules for teacher capacity building. Ms. Jacquline Theogenes Julius from Dodoma Secondary School noted that the ICT course increased her understanding of effective ICT use in education, including digital teaching tools, educational policies, and ICT-based assessments such as Google Forms.
