World Aquatics organized a Swimming Coaches’ Certification Course in Cali, Colombia, for coaches training athletes aged 8 to 12 from nine countries across the Americas. The program focused on age-appropriate coaching techniques, skill development, and long-term athlete growth.
The course featured a blend of online learning and face-to-face components, allowing coaches to apply theory through practical coaching experiences. This approach was designed to enhance learning and facilitate real-world application.
World Aquatics Lecturer James Richards noted the high motivation of participants and their eagerness to implement new ideas. He praised the positive learning environment, the support from the host federation, excellent facilities, and enthusiastic young athletes.
Lecturer Jose Lobo highlighted the course's contribution in providing coaches with structure, clarity, and practical tools for daily work. He emphasized that the quality facilities and access to swimmers in Cali significantly benefited the practical sessions, enhancing the connection between theory and practice.
Participant Juan Albaraccin from the Colombian Swimming Federation said the program's true value was in fostering collaboration. He explained that the course encouraged coaches to move beyond individual routines, share insights, and learn from peers, accelerating their professional development and improving coaching standards and athlete performance.
