The Weltklasse Zürich is the final event of the Wanda Diamond League season before the Brussels final. Competition kicks off with the women’s pole vault city event at Zurich Main Station, followed by the main meeting at Letzigrund Stadium. Many athletes have already qualified for the Diamond League Final, while others will compete for crucial points to secure their place in Brussels, which also offers automatic entry to the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest for event winners there.
Highlights include Swiss athlete Audrey Werro, the 2025 Diamond League champion, facing Femke Broeders-Bol and Great Britain's Georgia Hunter Bell in the women's 800m. Werro has clocked times ranking her third on the world all-time list this season. Hunter Bell will contest her first Diamond League 800m of the season after 1500m victories in Rome and Paris. The field also features Jess Hull, Sarah Billings, and 18-year-old Saida Tsehaye.
In the men’s 1500m, Ethan Strand of the USA looks to continue his strong form after recent wins over top athletes including Phanuel Koech, Cole Hocker, and Jakob Ingebrigtsen. These competitors will meet again in Zurich.
Several rivalries highlight the Zurich program. 2022 world champion Alison dos Santos has defeated world record-holder Karsten Warholm four times this season in the 400m hurdles, with both posting some of the fastest times in history. They will face off again in Zurich. Additionally, world champion Melissa Jefferson-Wooden recently edged Olympic champion Julien Alfred in the 100m, and both will race alongside world champion Sha'Carri Richardson, silver medalist Tina Clayton, and world 200m silver medalist Amy Hunt. Olympic champion Masai Russell is also favored in the 100m hurdles, having run 12.14 this year.
