At the recent World Aquatics Super Final, 20-year-old European champion Tomblin secured his first Super Final victory in the Men’s Solo Technical event with a score of 249.2033 for his routine titled ‘A Dance of Lost Love’. He finished ahead of Chinese competitor Guo Muye, who scored 245.6576, and Kazakhstan’s Viktor Druzin, who earned 235.4583. Tomblin stated that facing a strong contender like Guo required him to increase his degree of difficulty and expressed confidence in his routine, which he had performed several times before.
Guo Muye expressed his intention to win gold in the Men’s Solo Free but noted that his latest performance showed he needed to improve his body conditioning to better compete against Tomblin.
Later in the day, Tomblin teamed up with Olympic silver medallist Izzy Thorpe to win the Mixed Duet Technical final. The British pair, who have been dominant in 2026 with five golds from eight World Cup appearances, finished ahead of Italians Lucrezia Ruggiero and Filippo Pelati, who scored 216.8192, and Chilean teenagers Theodora Garrido and Nicolas Campos, who earned 210.7517. Tomblin highlighted the enjoyment of swimming with Thorpe and their strong chemistry.
Ruggiero and Pelati shared that their silver medal came despite extensive revisions to their French-themed routine 'Regarde! C’est l’amour'. They acknowledged opportunities for improvement in arms, expression, and artistic impression but were pleased not to receive any base marks, marking a significant achievement.
Garrido and Campos described their bronze medal as unexpected but expressed pride in their swim and overall performance, marking their first World Cup podium finish as a team.
