The Division of Program Coordination, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives (DPCPSI) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) identifies and reports on emerging scientific opportunities, significant public health challenges, and notable knowledge gaps. This division emphasizes research that benefits from collaboration among NIH Institutes and strategic coordination.

DPCPSI oversees research and activities in areas including AIDS, behavioral and social sciences, women's health, disease prevention, dietary supplements, research infrastructure, Tribal health, data science, and nutrition. Its offices include the All of Us Research Program Office, Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO), Office of AIDS Research, Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research, Office of Data Science Strategy, Office of Dietary Supplements, and others.

The Office of Clinical Research within DPCPSI administers the Bench to Bedside and Back awards to support translational research and manages opportunities for collaborative research with NIH intramural investigators at the NIH Clinical Center.

The Office of Extramural Research provides guidance to Institutes in conducting research and training programs through extramural mechanisms such as grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements.

The Office of Intramural Research coordinates research performed by NIH personnel through intramural programs, overseeing the Office of Animal Care and Use, Office of Clinical Research Education and Collaboration Outreach, Office of NIH History, Office of Human Subjects Research, and related entities.
