The 2026/27 UEFA Women’s Champions League season began with 19 teams competing in the first qualifying round, featuring five knockout mini-tournaments.
The winners—Czarni Sosnowiec, Mitrovica, PAOK, Riga FC, and Spartak Myjava—advanced to the champions path of the second qualifying round, scheduled from 4 to 8 August, with the draw already conducted.
Riga FC reached the second qualifying round for the first time after a comeback win over Wrexham in the final. Wrexham made history as the first Welsh team to advance through any stage of UEFA women's club competition by defeating Pyunik in the semi-final.
PAOK qualified by beating Neftçi in their mini-tournament final, their first success at this stage after losing four prior finals between 2021/22 and 2024/25. Neftçi stood out as the first Azerbaijani team to advance in UEFA women's club competitions since 2003/04, winning a penalty shootout against Budućnost in the semi-finals.
Poland’s Czarni Sosnowiec reached the second qualifying round for the first time by defeating Athlone Town, who had advanced past this stage last season. Kosovan side Mitrovica, a previous round of 32 qualifier in 2019/20, beat Ludogorets to qualify again.
Spartak Myjava, hosting their mini-tournament, beat Maltese side Mġarr United in the final, advancing past this stage for the second consecutive season.
