Adrianna Sułek-Schubert currently leads the heptathlon at the Wiesław Czapiewski Memorial in Nakło nad Notecią after a strong opening day, marking her return to competition following childbirth in 2024. She holds a lead of more than 200 points and has shown form suggesting she may break her own competition record of 6290 points. Sułek-Schubert opened with a 100m hurdles time of 13.09 seconds, just 0.01 seconds off her personal best, and cleared 1.80m in the high jump to secure the top spot after the first day. She maintained her lead with a 13.69m shot put throw. By day's end, she totaled 3858 points, 203 ahead of second-placed Lovisa Karlsson of Sweden, who set a personal best of 13.03 seconds in the 100m hurdles—the fastest Swedish time since 2016—and also set a meeting record in that event. Other notable performances in the women's events include Czech athlete Adéla Tkáčová, who broke the meeting record in the 200m with a time of 23.27 seconds, and Erika Wärff of Sweden, who led the shot put with a throw of 14.31m. Several athletes surpassed 14 meters in the shot put, including Austria’s Verena Mayr and Sarah Lagger, and Switzerland’s Lucia Acklin. Sułek-Schubert finished her day with a strong 200m run and a total score indicating potential for a new personal best since her maternity break.
The men's decathlon remains closely contested at the midway point. Swiss athlete Nino Portmann won the 100m sprint with 10.70 seconds and set a personal best in the shot put with 14.81m. Puerto Rico’s Yariel Soto seized the lead after a meeting record long jump of 7.80m. Former record-holder Finley Gaio of Switzerland achieved a wind-assisted 7.65m in the long jump, while Portmann registered a wind-assisted 7.55m. Lithuania’s Edgaras Benkunskas set a meeting shot put record with 15.66m. Adam Havlíček was the only athlete to clear 2.03m in the high jump. Overall, the decathlon standings remain open.
