An exceptional women's hammer throw field will headline the USATF Lone Star Grand Prix in College Station, Texas, featuring three of the four women who have thrown beyond 80 metres in history. The competition includes all podium finishers from the past three World Championships and the 2024 Olympic Games, as well as the top four throwers globally this year. Canadian Camryn Rogers, the reigning Olympic and two-time world champion, leads the field after a recent 80.09m victory in Turku. Also competing are 2022 world champion Brooke Anderson and 2019 world champion DeAnna Price, both of whom have surpassed 80 metres. Other notable entrants include US thrower Rachel Richeson, who set a personal best of 78.95m, Chinese athletes Zhao Jie, the world silver and Olympic bronze medallist with a 78.22m Asian record, and Zhang Jiale, the world bronze medallist and U20 record-holder. Olympic silver medallist Annette Echikunwoke and 2023 world silver medallist Janee Kassanavoid round out a strong field typical of global finals.
In the sprints, Oblique Seville will compete in his first 100m race since winning the world title with a personal best of 9.77 seconds. He will face 2021 Olympic 200m champion Andre De Grasse, 2016 world indoor champion Trayvon Bromell, 2023 world bronze medallist Zharnel Hughes, and Ronnie Baker, who has a 9.83 PB. The women’s 200m features Olympic champion Gabby Thomas, who recently ran 21.89 seconds, alongside Olympic finalist Favour Ofili, 400m fourth-place finisher Rhasidat Adeleke, world and Olympic finalist Deajah Stevens, and Cambrea Sturgis. The men’s 200m will be led by 2022 world 400m champion Michael Norman, facing Kyree King, Zimbabwean Olympic finalists Tapiwanashe Makarawu and Makanakaishe Charamba, and Canadian Aaron Brown. In the women’s 100m, 2023 world 4x100m champion Tamari Davis will compete with African silver medallist Rosemary Chukwuma, who holds a personal best of 10.95 and has clocked a wind-assisted 10.81 this year, and Jamaica’s world 4x100m silver medallist Jodean Williams. The men’s 400m event includes world indoor champion Christopher Morales Williams, Olympic champion Quincy Hall, and 2023 world champion Antonio Watson, competing with Bryce Deadm.
