Florian Clivaz did not initially intend to become a coach but moved into the profession after his experiences as an athlete and sports agent. He studied law and is currently pursuing a PhD while co-founding EP Management in 2018. Clivaz began coaching himself in 2013, developing training plans through self-education, collaboration, and extensive reading.
He describes his coaching style as highly analytical, focusing on the overall picture instead of quick fixes. His approach combines his knowledge, experience, and insights from his athletes, Mujinga and Ditaji Kambundji. With only two athletes, he tailors solutions rather than using a uniform method.
Sisters Mujinga and Ditaji share some similarities but require different coaching because of their distinct running techniques. Mujinga runs with a natural stiffness and bounce, relying on timing and angles, while Ditaji has notable raw power and explosiveness. Clivaz adapts his coaching to each athlete's needs.
Coaching his life partner Mujinga brings unique challenges. Positive results are rewarding to share, but difficulties require emotional distance. Clivaz states they have embraced the combination of personal and professional life.
Despite initial skepticism due to his unconventional background, Clivaz has guided both sisters to become world champions indoors and outdoors, marking his coaching success.
