Ephantus Mwangi Njeri claimed his first World Mountain Running Association (WMRA) World Cup win in the 14km classic up-and-down race at the Vauban Mountain Trail in Briançon, France, finishing in 1:03:01. He overtook compatriot Richard Omaya Atuya, who had won the uphill race the previous day, during the downhill section and extended his lead to win by 27 seconds. Elijah Kamau Kariuki completed the men's podium, resulting in a Kenyan sweep of the top three spots. Mexican runner Brayan Rodriguez Flores finished fourth, followed by Kenya’s Paul Machoka in fifth. The race featured approximately 1,000 metres of ascent and descent throughout the route.
In the women's race, Ruth Mwihaki Gitonga secured victory in 1:14:03, edging out fellow Kenyan Gloria Chebet by 19 seconds. Miriam Chepkirui completed the Kenyan sweep with third place. Italy's Arianna Dentis achieved her best World Cup result with fourth, while Britain's Elle Twentyman placed fifth. Gitonga’s win and second place from the previous day elevated her to the top of the overall World Cup standings. This race was the final classic up-and-down contest before the category finals in Québec.
On the previous day, Richard Omaya Atuya successfully defended his Vauban uphill title over a 6km course, climbing 1,150 metres from the base of the Prorel gondola to its upper station. Atuya led from the start and completed the course in 40:40, matching his winning time from 2025. Kariuki held second place for much of the race.
