Oliver Klemet claimed victory in the final race of the 2026 Open Water World Cup, winning the 3km knockout sprint by over four seconds. Having won the two previous rounds, Klemet maintained strong form. He said his strategy was to start well in the early segments and lead from the first turn in the 500m section, giving him an advantage for the fast final 500m. Despite an injury at the season's start, he expressed satisfaction at ending the World Cup on a high note. Klemet and his German teammates had completed an altitude training camp ahead of this event and plan to return to altitude before the European Championships, which is his next goal. He acknowledged the demanding schedule with both pool and open water races but said this medal boosts his confidence going forward.

Gregorio Paltrinieri took silver, responding well to Klemet's final lap attack. Paltrinieri, who holds 19 World Cup medals, said this was his best race, keeping pace with competitors before accelerating for a strong finish. Marc-Antoine Olivier took bronze, just 0.4 seconds ahead of fourth place finisher David, the overall 2026 World Cup leader. Olivier had also earned bronze in the 10km race the day before.
