Representatives from 12 countries participated in a virtual diplomatic visit to a displacement site in Al Mawasi, Khan Younis, Gaza Strip, to observe living conditions and relief efforts, according to the United Nations. The visit was led by UN Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Ramiz Alakbarov, and his deputy Suzanna Tkalec, who engaged with displaced residents and aid workers via videolink.

During the visit, diplomats observed residents collecting water delivered by truck under a UN-funded project and heard from displaced people about the urgent need for sustainable water services, especially during the hot summer months, as well as cash-for-work opportunities to support families. The delegation also viewed the large number of tents crowded along the shoreline where many are displaced.

Ramiz Alakbarov expressed gratitude for the financial support provided by the diplomats but noted that increased funding and political measures are necessary to maintain and expand relief operations, including overcoming access challenges.

UNRWA, the UN agency assisting Palestinians, reported a continuing decline in water security, with 84 percent of assessed households facing moderate to high water insecurity. Between June 16 and 30, UNRWA distributed about 79 million liters of domestic and drinking water, reaching over 860,000 displaced persons daily. Additionally, nearly 5,000 children between six and 59 months were screened for malnutrition, with 203 cases identified.

The World Health Organization is providing specialized feeding bottles for 45 infants in Gaza born with cleft lip or palate, conditions that impair breastfeeding. WHO noted the growing difficulty in obtaining these supplies due to a shortage of medical resources in the enclave.
