The United Nations Security Council convened to discuss escalating violence and humanitarian challenges in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank amid ongoing conflict and settlement expansion. The UN Special Envoy emphasized that "human dignity must be at the centre of all efforts" to address the fragile ceasefire and alleviate suffering in the region.
In Gaza, most of the population remains internally displaced and faces harsh living conditions. According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), 90 percent of people experienced moderate-to-high water insecurity in July, while deadly Israeli military strikes continue.
In the West Bank, Israeli operations injured more than 50 Palestinians and led to the demolition of 25 Palestinian-owned structures. Additionally, 38 settler attacks were reported within one week, resulting in casualties and property damage. Israeli authorities also seized property belonging to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the West Bank.
