On Day 2 of the Junior World Championships in Rijeka, Croatia, the girls' synchro platform event was delayed by an intense rainstorm. Once conditions improved, 13-year-old Jiang Yuehan and 14-year-old Yuan Qingcheng of China, who began diving together only a month ago, took the lead in the second round and maintained it to win gold for China.
Mexico's Suri Cueva Lobato and Adriana Torres Martin, both 16, secured silver, finishing 25.26 points behind the Chinese team. Australia’s Ruby Drogemuller and Maggie Grey were initially in the top three but were overtaken in the final dive by Russia's Viktoria Kazantseva and Aleksandra Kedrina, who claimed bronze.
In the boys’ 3m springboard final (16-18 age group), Germany’s Finn Awe, 17, the top qualifier and reigning junior European champion, built a strong lead by the fourth round. His final dive, a double-twisting forward 2½, secured him the gold. Russia’s Matvei Pomoshnikov, 18, earned his second silver medal in as many days.
Fiji made history by winning its first Junior World Championships medal through Maori Pomeroy Farrell, who was born in Canada and trains in Mexico.
