The World Athletics Championships Beijing 2027 will be held from Friday, 10 September to Sunday, 19 September 2027, following an approved change to the original schedule. This adjustment allows the opening ceremony to be held on the first day alongside the initial competition session and enables an evening session each day. A revised competition timetable is being developed, pending final approval by the World Athletics Council.
The event logo, 'Jingyue,' is inspired by Beijing’s Temple of Heaven and the Chinese character 'jing' (京). Expressive brushstrokes form the dome of the Temple of Heaven, while a multicoloured running track encircles the logo, symbolizing diversity and inclusiveness. The name 'Jingyue' reflects both the host city and the event's vitality, as well as Beijing’s openness in welcoming global participants.
The mascot, Jingyan, draws inspiration from 'Yan’er,' the 2015 World Championships mascot, and represents the return of the championships to Beijing after 12 years, like a swallow returning to its nest. Jingyan features traditional Chinese kite patterns, Peking Opera eye makeup motifs, and lightning-inspired graphics.
