Moesha Johnson delivered a historic performance at the 2026 Open Water World Cup by winning every individual race and sprint lap of the season, except for the first heat where she finished second to Bettina Fabian. This marks the most successful season of her career. Johnson described herself as “speechless” after the final race and expressed satisfaction with her endurance and steady improvement throughout the season. She leads the overall standings following victories in the 10km event and other distances.

Bettina Fabian earned two silver medals during the series, finishing second to Johnson in both the final event and the 10km race. Fabian showed consistency in all rounds and stated she was happy to compete strongly after recovering from an injury that kept her out last season.

Japan’s Ichika Kajimoto took bronze in the 3km knockout sprint event, narrowly beating Lea Boy. Kajimoto, the reigning 3km World Champion from the 2025 event, now holds four World Cup medals from the knockout sprint since its introduction. She expressed relief and joy at reaching the podium after missing the final in a previous competition.

Looking ahead, Johnson plans to focus on the Pan Pacific Championships in August, as well as further pool racing, as part of her ongoing competition schedule and training.
