Molly Cahill grew up as a dedicated soccer player in Colorado, but an ankle injury around age 13 or 14 led her to try water polo without any prior experience in aquatic sports.
She attended UCLA, where she won national championships, played for coach Adam Krikorian, and represented the United States at youth and junior national team levels.
Cahill began coaching in her fifth year at UCLA, initially as an assistant. She shared how coaching evolved from an activity to a genuine passion, fueled by collaborating with dedicated teammates and staying involved in sports.
Her coaching experience spans various age groups and competition levels, including club and age-group teams alongside her collegiate work, which she credits for sharpening her adaptability and coaching skills.
Throughout her career, Cahill has drawn inspiration from a network of female coaches and mentors, such as Coralie Simmons, Natalie Golda Benson, Nicole Payne, and from working with Adam Krikorian, Brenda Villa, Alys Moore, and Melissa Seidemann. She values the role these figures have played in shaping opportunities for female coaches.
Currently, Cahill is an assistant coach to Adam Krikorian on the US women's national water polo team, continuing her involvement at the highest levels of the sport.
