The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has published an agenda outlining its peer review process to demonstrate compliance with the Information Quality Act (2000), 44 U.S.C. §3516, and related peer review standards. These standards are developed by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), and the CDC. Peer review requirements include making specific information on the peer review of influential federal documents publicly available.

The OMB defines two categories within influential information: Influential Scientific Information (ISI) and Highly Influential Scientific Assessments (HISAs). The CDC's peer review agenda lists the HISAs and ISI documents currently under development or finalized.
