The International Testing Agency (ITA), which manages World Aquatics' anti-doping programme, collected 1,102 samples from 527 athletes representing 68 nationalities during the first quarter of 2026.

Out-of-competition testing accounted for most samples, with 1,044 collected outside competition periods; in-competition testing yielded 58 samples.

Among the samples, 697 were urine and 405 were blood, reflecting a coordinated international effort to uphold the integrity of aquatic sports. The increased testing volume and geographic coverage underscore World Aquatics' commitment to transparency and clean sport.
