After a weekend of record-setting competitions in Shanghai, many of the same elite athletes are scheduled to compete again at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Xiamen on Saturday (23).

The men's 400m hurdles will feature Karsten Warholm, a three-time world champion and world record holder, and Alison dos Santos, the 2022 world champion. Dos Santos recently defeated Warholm in the 300m hurdles event in Shanghai and has beaten Warholm in their last two 400m hurdles meetings. They will be joined by world leader Trevor Bassitt, two-time world bronze medallist Abderrahman Samba, and two-time Diamond League Final winner Kyron McMaster.

In the women's 100m hurdles, Olympic champion Masai Russell will compete again after setting a meeting record and world lead of 12.25 seconds in Shanghai. She faces world champion Ditaji Kambundji, three-time world indoor champion Devynne Charlton, world record holder Tobi Amusan, and two-time world champion Danielle Williams. Charlton finished second to Russell in Shanghai, setting a national record with 12.38 seconds, and Amusan placed third.

The women's 200m event will feature three global gold medallists from Shanghai: two-time world champion Shericka Jackson, two-time Olympic 400m champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo, and 2023 world 100m champion Sha’Carri Richardson. Jackson won the 200m in Shanghai in 22.07 seconds, her fastest since the 2023 Diamond League Final. Miller-Uibo was second in 22.26 seconds, and Richardson came fourth in 22.42 seconds.

The men's 100m in Xiamen will include the top eight finishers from Shanghai, such as South Africa’s Gift Leotlela, Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala, and USA’s Kenny Bednarek. Leotlela won the Shanghai race with a 9.97-second run, just ahead of Omanyala and Bednarek, who both ran 9.98 seconds. The men's 110m hurdles will see all nine athletes from Shanghai, including winner Jamal Britt, world champion Cordell Tinch, and Japanese record-holder Rachid Muratake.

The women's 3000m steeplechase is set for a close rematch between Olympic champion Peruth Chemutai and world champion Faith Cherotich, who finished just 0.01 seconds apart in Shanghai. Olympic champion Winfred Yavi will make her season debut, with additional competitors including Tunisia’s Marwa Bouzayani and Ethiopia’s Kena Tufa, both of whom have previously run under nine minutes.
