Updated mapping by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) identifies 925 movement obstacles across the West Bank and East Jerusalem—the highest number recorded in two decades and 43% above the 20-year average. These severe mobility restrictions have contributed to displacement, with 45 Palestinian communities fully displaced since January 2023 due to settler violence and access constraints, including nine communities displaced in 2026 alone.

In Gaza, a joint European Union and United Nations assessment estimates that two years of intensified hostilities have led to developmental setbacks equal to 77 years, underscoring a significant deterioration in living conditions. Although humanitarian aid deliveries into Gaza notably increased between April 14 and April 20—partly linked to the reopening of the Zikim Crossing—operations halted recently after two UNICEF contractors delivering drinking water were killed in northern Gaza.

Across the occupied Palestinian territory, ongoing violence, movement restrictions, and deteriorating essential services expose civilians to major protection and humanitarian challenges. According to UN Women, women and girls remain in critical need of assistance for food, water, shelter, health care, and education. The organization warns of elevated risks of gender-based violence, especially among older women and those with disabilities or caring responsibilities. Overcrowding, repeated displacement, scarce resources, and weakened protective community networks further increase these vulnerabilities. Access to gender-based violence prevention and response services is extremely limited.

Additionally, the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) reports a rise in harmful coping mechanisms, including child marriage, along with increasing adolescent pregnancies in Gaza. In the West Bank, sexualized and gender-based violence reportedly occurs in a coercive environment that contributes to the forced transfer of Palestinian communities, according to the West Bank Protection Consortium.
