World Aquatics has confirmed the return of a Recognised Diving Event to the Centre Acuático CODE Metropolitano in Zapopan, part of the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area in Jalisco, Mexico, scheduled for July. This marks a significant return of the venue to the international diving calendar.

Fernando Platas Alvarez, President of Mexico's Aquatics Sports Association, called the announcement "a great day for Mexico's hosting ambitions in aquatics, and for competitors around the globe and especially the Americas." Rommel Pacheco, Mexico's Minister of Sport, welcomed the event, noting that it supports the country's vision of strengthening sport as a driver of social development and international recognition.

Zapopan has a strong diving tradition and serves as a national training base for several of Mexico's Olympic medalists, including Gabriela Agúndez, Germán Sánchez, and Alejandra Orozco. Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus expressed pride in the event, highlighting Jalisco's commitment to hosting high-level competitions and offering cultural and gastronomic experiences to visitors.

The 2025 Diving World Cup at the same venue featured Mexican diver Randal Willars Valdez, who won the Men's 10m Platform final. Osmar Olvera Ibarra also delivered notable performances, which propelled him to win the world championship in Men's 3m Springboard later that year in Singapore, marking his second world title after his 2024 win in Doha.
