The FIA and Italian ASN ACI will collaborate to organise the 2026 Formula Regional European Championship, formalising their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding with plans for a comprehensive agreement and strategic plan. This partnership will support sporting excellence, technical equity, and promote sustainable growth of the series.

Since its inception in 2019 under ACI and Alpine guidance, the FIA-certified championship has become a competitive, international platform within the FIA’s global single-seater development structure. Over 160 drivers from 44 countries and 22 teams have competed, with graduates such as Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Isack Hadjar, Gabriel Bortoleto, and Franco Colapinto advancing through the ranks.

The 2026 championship will feature the Gen 2 Formula Regional chassis and a new Pirelli tyre specification. These updates will incorporate the latest safety innovations, modernise the category, and align more closely with FIA global standards, reinforcing the series as a benchmark for driver development.
