The FIA World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) is supported by multiple World Championship Commissions and WMSC Committees, which may also be assisted by Working Groups as needed. These commissions reflect the FIA Championships and help develop regulatory proposals for each series.
The appointment process requires the WMSC to approve Presidents and Vice-Presidents of its Committees every two years, based on proposals from the FIA President, except for the President of the Manufacturers’ Committee, who is appointed for four years. Members of WMSC Committees are approved biennially, following proposals from their respective Committee Presidents.
Chairpersons of the commissions are approved every two years by the WMSC upon proposal by the FIA President. These Chairpersons automatically become members of the WMSC Committee to which their commission reports. Members of each commission are appointed by the relevant Chairperson.
Commissions and committees mainly comprise representatives from FIA Members, and generally include representatives from other FIA stakeholders, such as manufacturers.
