The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) Volunteers and Officials Commission supports recruitment, training, accreditation, education, safety, and retention of volunteers and officials at all levels of motor sport. The Commission developed Appendix V to the International Sporting Code, harmonizing rules for volunteers and officials internationally and nationally, and aiding Authorised National Sporting Authorities (ASNs) in their management efforts.
The Commission also released the FIA Officials Competency Framework, defining the technical and behavioral skills required for various official roles in motor sport competitions. Each year, the Commission recognizes volunteers globally through Volunteers Weekend, encouraging ASN participation to celebrate these essential contributors to the sport.
With the FIA Volunteers and Officials Commission, the FIA has launched the Keep Watch. Keep Safe. campaign, aiming to increase safety awareness among marshals and officials by emphasizing their well-being. The campaign features 10 Golden Rules for best safety practices and provides visual materials in multiple languages.
