The 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP28, will take place in Dubai from November 30 to December 12, 2023, as the world’s top decision-making forum on climate issues.

Through its network of 243 Member Organisations in 147 countries, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) brings a global perspective on climate challenges to COP28. The FIA emphasizes that decarbonisation requires locally tailored approaches rather than a one-size-fits-all solution.

At COP28, the FIA commits to a just transition to sustainable, accessible, safe, and inclusive mobility. The organization leverages innovations from motor sport to develop sustainability solutions for everyday mobility.

FIA activities at COP28 include hosting an event on a just transition to net-zero road transport during COP28 Transport Day, operating a Blue Zone stand, and conducting the FIA Smart Driving Challenge onsite and online. These initiatives highlight low-carbon technologies and user-centric solutions for road mobility.

The FIA notes that road transport accounts for about 10% of global carbon emissions and warns that the number of passenger vehicles could double by 2050, increasing emissions if unaddressed.
