At the Informal Meeting of Heads of State or Government in Cyprus, the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union, represented by the President of Cyprus, joined with the Presidents of the European Parliament and the European Commission to sign the 'One Europe, One Market' roadmap. This agreement demonstrates the commitment of the three institutions to enhance Europe’s competitiveness and further integrate the single market by the end of 2027.
The roadmap serves as both a political and operational pledge, with targets for legislative proposals and agreements by EU co-legislators, quarterly monitoring of progress, and clearly defined responsibilities across EU institutions. It also ensures transparency through regular reviews.
Nikos Christodoulides, President of Cyprus, called the roadmap a decisive step to strengthen Europe's competitiveness amid ongoing geopolitical and economic challenges. Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, described it as ambitious and essential for building a more resilient Europe, able to withstand shocks and provide predictability for citizens and businesses.
Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, stressed that the roadmap's actions will support economic growth, digital transformation, and industrial resilience, making it a key priority for the Commission.
