The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has selected four projects focused on modernizing and improving the reliability of coal-based power generation, grid stability, and strategic energy infrastructure, according to a press release published on June 4, 2026.
The DOE also announced a $1 billion strategic partnership with Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Japan becomes the first international partner in President Trump’s Genesis Mission, aimed at advancing global energy technology and innovation.
