At the 2026 Junior World Championships in Rijeka, Croatia, Yuan Qingcheng of China claimed her third gold medal on day six by winning the girls’ (14–15 age group) platform final. The final totaled each diver’s three final-dive scores with their five preliminary dives. Yuan was the only competitor to surpass 400 points, winning gold by 35.75 points over synchro partner Jiang Yuehan, who took silver. Lia Cueva Lobato, twin of Mia Cueva Lobato, earned bronze in this open final.
Russia's Miroslav Kiselev also earned his third gold medal of the week, securing victory in the boys’ 3m final and marking a significant milestone at these championships.
During the girls’ platform final, Mia Cueva Lobato of Mexico attempted her fourth event but exited medal contention early after scoring 34.10 on her first dive due to a near-back landing. American diver Lindy Johnson moved into medal position with a strong reverse 2½ dive but scored zero on a failed armstand in the final round, ending her medal hopes. Her coach reported she was fine despite struggles with that dive all week.
In the final rounds, Jiang Yuehan’s splash landing reduced her final dive’s score, allowing Yuan Qingcheng to finish strong and secure the top podium spot. The competition featured challenging dives and close rivalries among the leading contenders.
Yuan called her 10m individual gold one of her three championships golds, highlighting her exceptional performance at these junior games.
