World Athletics has ratified three new men’s world records set this year in the half marathon, 110m hurdles, and 1000m events.

Jacob Kiplimo of Uganda clocked 57:20 in the men’s half marathon at the EDP Lisbon Half Marathon on 8 March, shaving 10 seconds off the previous ratified record of 57:30 set by Yomif Kejelcha of Ethiopia in October 2024. Kiplimo passed 5km in 13:28, reached 10km with Nicholas Kipkorir at 27:00, and led after 15km before finishing strongly. However, Kejelcha later ran 56:51 in Buenos Aires, which is currently under ratification.

Ja’Kobe Tharp, 20, broke the men’s 110m hurdles world record at the NCAA Championships in Eugene on 10 June with a time of 12.75 seconds in the semifinals. He improved on his personal best of 13.01, lowering the previous record set by Aries Merritt in 2012 by 0.05 seconds.

Emmanuel Wanyonyi of Kenya set a new world record in the 1000m with a time of 2:11.83 at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Monaco on 10 July. Marking his debut at the distance, Wanyonyi outpaced Britain's Jake Wightman by 0.94 seconds, breaking the 27-year-old record of 2:11.96 held by Noah Ngeny since 1999.
