Some of the world’s top young jumpers are set to compete in the World Athletics U20 Championships Oregon 26 at Hayward Field from August 5 to 9, participating in high jump, pole vault, long jump, and triple jump events.
In the women's high jump, Izobelle Louison-Roe of Australia returns as world U20 leader, clearing 1.95 meters twice this year. Other top contenders include India’s Pooja, who set a national U20 record at 1.93 meters, and Hungary’s Lilianna Bátori, with an indoor best of 1.93 meters. Additional athletes from Spain, Serbia, Ireland, Greece, and Poland have reached or surpassed 1.85 meters.
On the men’s side, Algeria’s Younes Ayachi leads with a 2.28-meter indoor clearance, followed by USA’s Gage Voyles with a 2.27-meter outdoor best. Great Britain’s Samuel James recently raised his personal best to 2.25 meters, joining other leading jumpers from Bahrain, Greece, Sri Lanka, India, Sweden, and the United States who have cleared over 2.20 meters this season.
In women’s pole vault, Czech athlete Nicole Krutilová tops the field with a 4.52-meter clearance. South Africa’s Ansume de Beer and France’s Moana Peyrard, who set a national U20 record of 4.46 meters, are among the leading entrants. European U18 champion Anastasia Boumpoulidi and talents from Estonia, France, and Ukraine round out a competitive group with clearances near 4.40 meters.
France’s Zackaria Dia leads the men’s pole vault with a 5.82-meter clearance, ranking second on the all-time world U20 list. Estonia’s Henri Apri follows with a 5.66-meter personal best, while athletes from the USA, China, and Japan have cleared between 5.56 meters and lower heights this season.
