The World Athletics U20 Championships Oregon 26 (WU20 Oregon 26) has unveiled new medals for athletes competing in August at Hayward Field, University of Oregon. The medals highlight Oregon’s natural beauty and track and field legacy, featuring the event's logo of stylized Oregon trees and wings representing the traditional winged foot symbol in athletics. The wings also relate to Oregon’s state motto, “She flies with her own wings,” adopted in 1987.
Each medal features a distinctive ribbon color: gold medals are bound by blue ribbons symbolizing Oregon’s waters; silver medals have red and orange ribbons inspired by the state’s vibrant sunrises and sunsets; and bronze medals feature green ribbons evoking the local landscape. Karen Ramming, Oregon 26 Chief Marketing Officer, stated the design aims to capture the athletes' energetic spirit and the essence of Oregon through its shapes, colors, and textures.
In addition, podium finishers will receive honorary pins that share the medal designs. These pins are intended for coaches, family, friends, and teammates as recognition of their support in the athletes’ journeys.
The Championships will welcome over 1,700 athletes from more than 135 countries from August 5 to 9, 2026. This will be the 21st edition of the event and only the second time it is hosted in Oregon. Tickets are reportedly selling quickly.
