Noah Lyles, nine-time global gold medallist and leading US sprinter, has been announced as the Ultimate Star for the World Athletics Ultimate Championship, set for 11–13 September 2026 in Budapest, Hungary. Lyles will compete in both the 100m and 200m, having secured automatic qualification with podium finishes at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
Alongside competing, Lyles will serve as the Ultimate MC and Creative Adviser, contributing to event presentation. He will participate in strategy sessions with World Athletics to develop fan engagement, athlete introductions, and awards presentations.
Lyles will also oversee the creative direction of Club Ultimate, the exclusive after-party for athletes, influencing its look, sound, and atmosphere during planning and the event itself.
World Athletics President Sebastian Coe welcomed the partnership, emphasizing that Lyles' involvement extends beyond ambassadorship. Lyles, known for his stage presence and influence in fashion, media, and pop culture, is seen as ideal to enhance the experience for both fans and athletes.
Lyles holds US records in the 200m (19.31 seconds) and the 4x100m relay (37.10 seconds). His 200m time ranks third all-time globally. He has earned three Olympic medals and 10 World Championships medals in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay.
Lyles stated he aims to involve athletes in developing the Ultimate Championship and its spectacle, hoping to create an unprecedented experience for fans and participants and advance the sport into a new era of sports and entertainment.
