World Athletics has released the Ultimate Anthem, titled 'Gold,' performed and co-written by Swedish pole vault world record-holder and two-time Olympic champion Mondo Duplantis. Created alongside Carl Silvergran and Oscar Chase, with Chase as producer, the song is available globally on major streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.
The official music video, filmed in Budapest, host city for the championship, features Duplantis at landmarks including Fisherman's Bastion and Heroes’ Square. It includes archival footage of his early life and career highlights, with family, friends, and fellow athletes appearing. The video emphasizes triumph and the dynamic energy of athletics.
Duplantis said 'Gold' represents standing for something greater than oneself—family, team, and coaches—and highlights how music and sport unite people. The anthem will be featured in championship broadcasts and live experiences, aiming to connect fans globally and in-stadium.
World Athletics President Sebastian Coe commented that the anthem shows athletes' talents on and off the track and that Duplantis is a fitting choice to create and perform it. Duplantis will perform 'Gold' live during the event's closing on Sunday, 13 September.
