The men's 100 metres semifinals saw impressive performances. Marko Ferreira of South Africa won Heat 1 with a time of 10.13 seconds (+0.6 m/s wind).
In Heat 2, Gary Card from Jamaica posted the best time at 10.16 seconds with a +0.1 m/s wind, followed by Malaysian athlete Danish Iftikhar Muhammad Roslee at 10.36 seconds.
Heat 3 was led by Tate Taylor of the United States, who ran the fastest semifinal time of 10.06 seconds (+0.1 m/s wind).
In earlier rounds, Gary Card also won Heat 1 in 10.07 seconds (+0.3 m/s wind), with other heats featuring winning times between 10.11 and 10.38 seconds under various wind conditions.
Athletes from the USA, Jamaica, South Africa, Switzerland, and Japan made strong showings in the semifinals. Wind conditions throughout were generally favorable for fast sprints.
