Jamaica has announced its team for the World Athletics U20 Championships Oregon 26, scheduled for August 5-9 in the USA. Leading the squad are sprinters Shanoya Douglas and Gary Card, both currently topping the world U20 season lists in their events.
Douglas holds the world U20 lead in the 100m and 200m and will compete in both events at the Championships. She previously claimed gold in the 4x100m relay and bronze in the 200m at the 2024 World U20 Championships in Lima. Earlier in 2026, Douglas secured a sprint double at the Jamaican U20 Championships and a triple title—100m, 200m, and 4x100m—at the CARIFTA Games. She ran 10.98 seconds to win the 100m at Jamaica’s Boys and Girls Championships and set a national U20 record of 22.11 seconds in the 200m, ranking joint third on the world U20 all-time list.
Gary Card enters as the season leader in the U20 100m. After finishing sixth in the 100m final at the last U20 Worlds, he helped Jamaica claim gold in the 4x100m relay. This year, he took silver in the 100m at the senior Jamaican Championships, finishing behind world champion Oblique Seville and setting a national U20 record of 9.93 seconds, tying for third on the world U20 all-time list.
Other notable athletes include Michael-Andre Edwards, gold medalist in triple jump and silver medalist in long jump at the CARIFTA Games, who will contest both events, and Joseph Salmon, currently world U20 No. 2 in discus. The team also features national U20 champions such as 100m hurdler Tiana Marshall and 400m hurdler Robert Miller.
The Jamaican team features competitors across sprints, hurdles, jumps, and throws for both men and women, underscoring the nation's continued strength in youth athletics.
