World champions and record holders will compete at the Gyulai István Memorial in Budapest, regarded as one of the strongest editions of the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting. The event takes place at the National Athletics Centre, venue for the 2023 World Athletics Championships and the upcoming World Athletics Ultimate Championship in September. Featured participants include Swedish pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis, who last year cleared 6.29m at this stadium to set his 13th world record and has since improved to 6.31m. Duplantis recently won the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Monaco with a 6.07m jump and is among the Ultimate Championship's headliners.
Emmanouil Karalis, runner-up to Duplantis in Budapest last year with a 6.02m clearance and who cleared 6.17m in Athens this year, making him the second-best pole vaulter in history, will compete again alongside Kurtis Marschall, the latest athlete to defeat Duplantis at the Diamond League in Stockholm. Other six-metre vaulters include Sondre Guttormsen, Sam Kendricks, and Ernest John Obiena.
On the women's side, Australia's Olympic champion Nina Kennedy leads the pole vault field after recently improving the Oceanian record to 4.95m, surpassing New Zealand's Eliza McCartney, who will also compete, with Imogen Ayris and Tina Šutej. Kennedy previously won her world title in Budapest.
In the long jump, Greece's two-time Olympic champion Miltiádis Tentóglou will compete after recording an 8.61m jump in Monaco, near his personal best. He will face Jamaica's Wayne Pinnock, who jumped 8.39m in Monaco, and Tajay Gayle.
