Audrey Werro reaffirmed her status as the world’s leading 800m runner by winning the event at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship Budapest 26. She took the lead early, setting a strong pace with a first lap split of 57.83 seconds.
Isabel Broeders-Bol and Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson stayed close, remaining within striking distance approaching the final 200 meters. At this point, Werro accelerated, pulling ahead to finish first in 1:55.88.
In the home stretch, Hodgkinson overtook Broeders-Bol to claim second place in 1:56.26, finishing nearly half a second ahead of the Dutch competitor.
