Adrianna Sułek-Schubert, three-time winner at the Wiesław Czapiewski Memorial, leads the heptathlon by more than 200 points after a strong opening day in Nakło nad Notecią. The Polish record-holder started with a 13.09-second 100m hurdles, just 0.01 seconds off her personal best from four years ago. This puts her on track to break her own meeting record at the World Athletics Combined Events Tour Gold meeting, marking her best form since returning to competition after childbirth in 2024.

Sweden’s Lovisa Karlsson posted the fastest overall time in the hurdles with a personal best of 13.03 seconds—the fastest by a Swedish athlete since 2016—improving the meeting record by 0.35 seconds. After the high jump, Sułek-Schubert maintained the lead with a 1.80m clearance, while Karlsson moved up. Swedish competitor Erika Wärff led the shot put with a throw of 14.31m, closely followed by Austria's Verena Mayr, Sarah Lagger, and Switzerland’s Lucia Acklin, all surpassing 14 meters. Sułek-Schubert’s 13.69m was enough to keep her lead.

The 200m event saw another meeting record set by Czech athlete Adéla Tkáčová, who finished in 23.27 seconds, narrowly missing her personal best by 0.05 seconds. Three other women—Vilma Italinna, Sułek-Schubert, and Acklin—also finished within the previous meeting record. Sułek-Schubert ended the day with 3858 points, 203 ahead of Karlsson, with Wärff trailing by 18. If this continues, Sułek-Schubert could surpass her competition record of 6290 points, her highest score since her maternity break.

In the men's decathlon, the competition remains tight. Switzerland’s Nino Portmann won the 100m sprint in 10.70 seconds. Puerto Rico’s Yariel Soto took the lead after a long jump of 7.80m, setting a meeting record. Other strong performances included Finley Gaio of Switzerland and Edgaras Benkunskas of Lithuania, who set a meeting record in the shot put with 15.66m. With close scores in subsequent events, multiple athletes remain in contention for the decathlon title.
