The President has directed the formation of the Presidential Commission on the United States Space Academy to advise on establishing a NASA-led federal academy dedicated to rigorous technical education, leadership development, discipline, and public service in the space domain. The goal is to prepare a professional corps capable of advancing American interests in space, including astronauts, scientists, engineers, and warfighters.
The Commission is chaired by the NASA Administrator, with vice chairs from the Office of Science and Technology Policy and Economic Policy, and the Deputy NASA Administrator serving as Executive Director. Additional members include the Secretary of War, Assistant to the President and Chief of Staff, Director of the Office of Management and Budget, Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs, Secretary of the Air Force, and others invited by the Chair.

The Commission must submit recommendations to the President within 120 days of the directive, focusing on how to establish the Space Academy to foster future leaders in the space domain.
